Product Review: Gratifyingly expensive
All the publicity prior to delivery was that this is the Windows 7 version of the Macbook air. It's not quite that. True it's made of lightweight aluminium (although Samsung use a stronger alloy). True it's a light thin notebook with a 13.3" screen. True it has an internal, non-swappable battery. True it's aimed at a 'premium' audience for a premium price.
However, it has a number of fundamental differences and not just the choice of operating system. The Samsung has a 'slower' (but more modern SandyBridge and therefore just as fast if not faster) processor and lower resolution (but brighter) screen.
Where the Samsung really scores over the Apple is the screen. It's seriously good. Not only is it very bright (did I mention that it's very bright?), vivid and HD (720p) sized but its matt finish means that it is viewable in outside light. In conditions which would have you seeing your own face reflected back with a macbook, the Samsung's screen just shows you...
