Product Review: fast, slick, light notebook with exceptional build quality
This is a great laptop running windows 8. certainly lives up to all my expectations which were extremely high. I was looking for something robust, light, fast, well-made, and that was quiet - that allowed you to get on with work. Very connectable, high specification and with the solid state drive means speed is exceptional; boots up in about 4 seconds and runs all standard software very fast. Windows 8 is somewhat different but broadly, barring visuals, and some minor changes, is easily dealt with if you've used windows 7. It is a bit pricey but on the other hand there is nothing quite like it on the market in terms of smartness and engineering. great stuff Sammy! bring more of it on.

Product Review: Great Laptop, Great Price
This is a great laptop for the price, well built with a quality feel, great specs and high capacity hard drive. What lets the machine down is that it has an integrated gaphics card, however machines with dedicated graphics are much more expensive, so you can't have too many complaints. This makes the machine able to play high end games less well, however I haven't yet tested out football manager, but I expect that to run like a dream on this. One other problem I have about this is that it has Windows 8, and I haven't yet formed an opinion whether that is good or bad, but it certainly is different and if you are a first time Windows 8 user like me you will have to do a lot of googling to find out how things work and even turn the thing off (I still haven't found the shut down, the laptop seems to power down if it is left)

Product Review: Punching well above it's price...
I've owned this laptop for a few months now and felt compelled to write a review.

I have owned a large number of different laptops, desktops and Mac's over the last few years and regularly change my primary computer. This particular laptop replaced a gaming desktop PC with an AMD FX 8 core processor and dual high end graphics cards. Prior to that I owned a AlienWare M11x R2 laptop with all the options ticked (i7 CPU, 8Gb memory etc etc).

I purchased this particular laptop on the strength of the Nvidia GT650 and Ivy Bridge i5 processor: I needed a more portable computing solution than my desktop but wanted to be able to continue to play games when time allows. In honesty I was expecting the laptop to be a compromise when it came to gaming versus my dual HD6870 desktop PC.... I was wrong!

Of course the lower resolution screen helps proceedings (previously I was gaming at 1920x1080) but the reality is that I am playing my collection of Steam/Origin games...

Many of the reviews listed under this product seem to be for the Yoga 13, which is confusing, not only because the size of the two products is different, but the hardware spec and the OS is different too.

I bought the Yoga 11 which runs Windows RT. I considered the Yoga 13 which runs full-fat Windows 8, but decided against it because it costs nearly twice as much, is bigger and heavier, and has a shorter battery life. I love the solid state (flash) memory on this machine. Everything is so fast. Make sure you buy Apple Care - it's worth it.

Be careful when using it in public. It is attractive to thieves and muggers.

You may be interested to know that Adobe Flash isn't pre-installed on the MacBook Air now. I'd advise against it - it's a huge battery and resource hog. You can use Chrome, which has Flash built-in and auto-updates. For things like YouTube, there are some excellent apps like Minitube, which allow H264 playback, which works like a dream.

I had expected only 2GB of RAM to feel rather anemic. It super-snappy, I'm delighted.

Having been using computers now for the best part of thirty years and probably every conceivable operating system there is, I have to say this is by far and away, the best machine and operating system I have ever used. I have been using Linux for home use for the best part of six to seven years, Linux Mint in particular, as M$ Windows in any disguise just does not cut it in terms of performance or reliability, which is why I switched. I didn't think anything would tempt me away from Linux but when Gnome released their new version it seemed quite buggy and not quite as user friendly and the Mint Team appeared to be having a problem making it work within their system so APPLE seemed like the only option open.

So, as my trusty old Lenovo laptop was dying anyway the time seemed right to migrate and I am so glad I did and went for a MAC. Yes, the machine was expensive but like everything in life, you get what you pay for. This machine is solid, both the hardware and the system...

Product Review: glad i bought this laptop
I spent quite a while picking this laptop and now that i've had it a few weeks, i am pleased with my choice. I got the i5 but kind of wish i'd got the i7 now, but that's not to say this one is slow, it's very responsive. Quality is good, looks sleek and is thin. There is no flex (or negligible, it's not hewn from rock)on the top around the touchpad. It feels reassuringly heavy, but is not a brick. The plastic bottom actually feels good to the touch, some have said they think this lets it down, being brushed aluminium everywhere else, but i don't think so - how often do you stare at the bottom? The touch pad is large and resembles macbook. Takes getting used to, and yes, you will often accidently highlight text in a webpage, or inadvertently create a gesture which will show Computer window etc, but after a few weeks now, have pretty much got used to this and find gesture control a benefit. I had previously looked at a Toshiba, Samsung then Asus.
All had similar specs but something held me back from purchasing - not all the boxes being ticked.
First saw the HP Envy dv7 in April 2013 in PC World next to the ASUS I had been thinking about.

I bought this after seeing all the reviews & must say it lives up them in all areas except one - the one sent to me did NOT have a backlit keyboard.

Whether this is important is a personal thing but I have since discovered that this topic is the subject of number of forum threads.

An excellent machine that does everything I need. The keys are responsive and feel good, the screen has great resolution, it's perfect for watching online content, showing colours to great effect. Gaming with this laptop is just fantastic and the bluray drive is another very nice additional.

Product Review: Acer Aspire 5745
I am very happy with this laptop, the only downside is the graphics are a little on the slow side, which shows itself in video on occasion but it's bearable the graphics experience scores are, Windows gaming score 5.2 / Windows Aero 4.7, I have upgraded to 6GB which seemed to help with overall performance as this only came with 3GB, remember if you are using 32 Bit Windows you can only use up to 4GB, mine was provided with 64 Bit Windows 7. the onboard mouse took a while to get used to but I am happily clicking away now, the keyboard is fairly responsive and the key strokes are positive, the laptop as a whole feels sturdy except the screen portion felt a bit loose, it was OK after some manipulation. The battery life is OK it is good for up to 3 hours depending on what you are doing. Overall if you are looking for a small light general all round good performing laptop that won't set the world alight I would recommend this one.

Product Review: Good high-end laptop
It has really powerful performance on both daily use and high-end entertainment applications (such as 3D games and HD movies). And the design is my favorite, the silver color and slim design makes it look cool and fashionable. Indeed, you can carry it to everywhere from cafeteria to office. Moreover, the price is attractive if you compare it with the same level MacBook or high-end laptops from other manufacturers (sony, acer etc).

Two tiny things I have to point out is 1) the battery can only be charged at 80% (guess due to the battery protection program installed by samsung; 2) the laptop does not have a Blue Ray DVD driver which is rare for a laptop around

Product Review: Really pleased :-)
I'm not a techie by any means, and Lenovo was not even a name I'd heard of before embarking on identifying a suitable machine. I have to say though, I've been really pleased with this machines performance since I received and started using it just over a month ago. It was delivered in the time expected and was securely packaged. It didn't take me long to set it up using the instructions supplied, and the speed of the machine is impressive. I was looking for a specific spec., and Lenovo seemed to have the best range of devices and at a reasonable price compared to other well known brands. Quality laptop with high spec. Great for Uni as it will last 3 years with the spec.

The RAM is upgradeable on this laptop. I can confirm this as I have installed 6GB DDR3 (additional 2GB in addition to the 4GB supplied). The laptop has two memory slots and 1 is free. 8GB is the maximum memory it supports. To do this remove the back plate to reveal the memory slots and hard drive.

Product Review: Great piece of kit
After doing a _lot_ of research on the potential for a gaming laptop this is the one I went for. While not a MacBook Pro or an Alienware what this did have on it's size was price. If you read the reviews the laptop is meant to have a bit of a plasticky shell, yes it is plastic but it by no means detracts from what is a good, strong piece of equipment. The machine boots in 3-4 seconds, runs for hours and can game happily. I'm a Minecraft and Kerbel Space Program player which are both graphics and CPU intensive (more the latter than the former) and even then I can get a good 1-2 hours of high-res gaming before having to plug the laptop in. For casual browsing I charge the laptop about once every 3-4 days and so far have no complains. Windows 8 while not directly related to the laptop works well with the touchpad but takes some getting used to (it's a new microsoft offering). Overall the laptop is eye catching, performs well and has a price tag that makes this more than achievable. Would...
